Connect your phone
Open FoneStream on your computer and the companion on your phone. Connect both to the same local network. Scan the desktop QR code in the companion, or use the one-time code and receiver details. Verify the intended computer.
Approve capture
On Android, press Start and approve MediaProjection. On iPhone, select PhoneStream Broadcast (the current companion label) in the ReplayKit picker. Pairing does not grant capture permission by itself.
Compose in the live view
Choose 2D screen or 3D device and select portrait 9:16, landscape 16:9 or square 1:1. Hold the phone naturally and calibrate. Use Add camera to see yourself behind the phone, then drag the phone into place or fine-tune X/Y. Camera selection, Mirror and Fill/Fit affect this local reference preview. It is muted and excluded from OBS output and MP4 recordings.
Send or record
Open OBS output, copy the current Browser Source URL and match the source dimensions shown for your layout. Add your camera separately in OBS. Or choose Record in the desktop transport controls: Stop & save writes the phone canvas to MP4 at the selected dimensions. Stop recording before changing layouts. The browser preview does not save native recordings.
No phone handy?
Choose Try with a test phone on the connection screen. This sends deterministic synthetic screen and motion through the app. It demonstrates the controls; its 60 fps and latency readings are not physical-device benchmarks.
